Steven Krutek studied art at the Colorado College, the University of Montana, the SALT Institute for Documentary Field Studies, Pacific Northwest College of Art, and with photographer Stuart Klipper.
Steven is currently teaching in the University of Montana's School of Art while promoting his photography-based and photographically derived artwork. He was one of five photographers selected internationally to present work at the Society for Photographic Education's 43rd national conference in Chicago. Steven’s work has been exhibited at Project Basho in Philadelphia and in Tokyo at Ricoh's RING CUBE gallery. His work was also chosen as the cover image for a collection of poems, Earth Again by Chris Dombrowski and for publication in The Sun Magazine.
When he isn't teaching, creating his own work, or spending time with his family, Steven studies and performs Balinese music with the Missoula, Montana community gamelan, Manik Harum.
